Beauty
Beauty is big business! In 2003 the
Beauty Business did 72 billion! in
revenues. In the United States in
2002 there were 1,604,502 professionals
employed in salons. California had
308,748 employed professionals - one-fifth
of the total!
The salon industry in California is
a job-seekers market today, with over
56% of the salon owners reporting
at least one or two job openings immediately.
Today the growing salon industry offers
a unique 'zero unemployment' factor
- needing many more new salon professionals
than we can supply. Lu Ross Academy
graduates are highly sought after
and work through-out Ventura, Santa
Barbara and Los Angeles Counties.
Several salons and salon chains recruit
on campus and invite active students
to consider them after licensure.
As the Los Angeles Times Magazine
said on 12/8/02, Lu Ross Academy "students
have become the spa world's equivalent
of Harvard Business School graduates…"
Massage
Massage Therapy is an exciting and
rewarding career that feeds your desire
to help and nurture others. Most massage
therapists enjoy the ability to work
full-time or part-time. Each year,
acceptance of the value of massages
increases and more people turn to
massage therapy to help them relieve
pain, reduce stress, lengthen muscle
tissue to improve posture and movement
and stimulate the immune system.
Since 1997, the number of people receiving
a massage from a licensed massage
therapist has more than doubled. Doctors
and other health professionals are
turning more to massage to augment
traditional western medicine.
This trend will continue to grow.
