Give some back: THE GIFT OF FOOD
The staff and students of Lu Ross Academy realize that to be truly part of the community, you need to give part of yourself back to the community. Despite California’s economic and agricultural prosperity, one in six Californians is hungry or at serious risk of hunger—significantly worse than the nation as a whole. In these difficult times, we can think of no better act than to feed our hungry neighbors.
The Lu Ross community gives back by giving to Food Share, Ventura County’s Food Bank. Established in 1983 FOOD Share is a critical member of our community in providing food and support to the hungry faces of Ventura County. FOOD Share distributes over 9 million pounds of nutritious food per year via their 150+ non-profit partners, government programs, and outreach programs.
They receive food and monetary donations via individual donations, corporations, foundations, grants, the USDA, and the generous Ag community. FOOD Share, the community of Ventura County, and their partners are dedicated to alleviating the critical issue of hunger.
All income that the School receives from our client services on the first Tuesday of each month goes to Food Share.
When clients get a haircut, a color, a facial or any of our services on the first Tuesday of the month, they are giving to Ventura Food Share.
Thanks to our loyal clients and our talented instructors and students and to Food Share!
